In some of the most wholesome news you’re likely to read this year (because lets face it, 2020 is a complete shit show and barely anything positive has happened), a Youtuber who saw his father walk out on him when he was a teenager has begun a channel dedicated to helping kids who find themselves in a similar situation.
Rob Kenney, from Bellevue in Washington, was left without a father when his dad left during his teenage years. So, to help out any children struggling through the same ordeal, he began a Youtube channel teaching lessons that would ordinarily be taught by a parent.
his father left when he was 12, now he has a YT channel called “Dad, how do I?” to help kids who’re growing up without dads. teaching them basic tasks that you’d usually ask your dad for help on. this is the purest thing 😭 pic.twitter.com/JMKXM541xd

The channel, entitled ‘Dad, How do I?’, hosts videos showing viewers how to tie a tie, unclog blocked sinks, how to check your cars oil, iron a dress shirt and how to shave, among other basic, but important, life lessons.
Talking about his experience in an interview with Shattered, Rob explained: “By the time I got to be 10, 11, 12, you could definitely tell there was some dysfunction going on.
“We used to have even boxes in our downstairs because my mom never really unpacked. I think my mom… wanted to get back to Kansas. I think that really took a toll on her.
“He got custody of us, but he didn’t really want us. I think he was kind of done by that time. He said, ‘You know, I’m done having kids. … You’re going to have to figure out where these kids are going because otherwise I’m putting them in foster homes.’”
Rob and his father would later reconnect and put any differences aside, with Rob making it his goal to help any kids having to endure similar trials and tribulations.
What a man. This is the wholesome content the world needed right now.
